SUMMER ENGAGEMENT INSPIRATION IN MAINE

I'm Alicia!

hey there

COVID has made engaged couples that are starting to plan their wedding or elopement, to think outside the box. This may mean a more intimate, smaller wedding than originally envisioned for this year. Followed by a celebratory event next year with your closest family and friends. Planning your summer engagement in Maine, during these crazy times, shouldn’t be something you stress about.

Engagement sessions are another aspect of the wedding planning where plans are becoming non-traditional. If you are a couple where you are super awkward, a little nervous to be in front of the camera, think you “take really bad pictures,” or maybe just overall dread the idea of having your photos taken - consider including an engagement session with your wedding photographer.

This summer engagement session was taken in a private estate in the mountains of Maine. It’s a great example of social distancing, doing something you already love to do, and giving yourself the ability to prep yourselves for your wedding day. Your wedding day typically has such a short window for photos. If you haven’t hired a photographer you can fully trust and can completely be yourselves around, than you will be guaranteed to get those awkward, stiff photos that don’t capture your gorgeous laugh lines that you love about one another.

During this session, we swam in some really cold water. It is important to add some music ya normally would listen to. It helps relax ya, get your mind off me, and can create authentic movement with you both. We danced, sang, laughed, took massive deep breathes while swimming (dude, it was cold), and just talked. It was like hanging out with a bunch of old friends. There wasn’t anything uncomfortable going on. I guided them when needed. And the important thing was, they felt safe. They weren’t uncomfortable having attention on them. We were able to genuinely be ourselves.
